At Bardens Animal Clinic we provide full-service dental care. We will help you formulate a dental care plan that involves routine check-ups with us and a daily at-home maintenance program. Our professional services are designed to address various issues including: tooth decay, gingivitis, gum disease and how to help prevent future plaque and tartar buildup.
- Dental Exams-A thorough exam is performed while your pet is under general anesthesia. Many issues are hidden below the gum line and cannot be seen during exam in an awake pet.
- Dental Cleanings- this involves removing plaque and tarter from each tooth, both above and below the gum line. This is similar to when we have our own teeth cleaned at the dentist.
- Tooth extractions- teeth that are broken, loose or decayed will need to be extracted in order to keep your pet healthy. These teeth will only be extracted with owner’s permission.
- Preventative- we carry various oral products that you can use to maintain your pet’s oral hygiene at home from toothbrushes to dental treats. We will go over options to find out what works best for you and your pet.
Here are Some Signs of Gum Disease:
*Yellow or brown teeth
*Swollen, red gums
Gum disease is caused by the secretion of bacteria from plaque and tartar that have spread below the gum line. A bacterium infects the root of the tooth and the surrounding gum tissue. If this gum disease is left untreated it can result in tooth loss, behavioral changes, decreased appetite and/or heart, liver and kidney problems. If you notice any of these signs or symptoms please call us.
